Work History

Part-time lecturer

Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar/ Département of Mathematics-IT
01.2018 - Current

Post-doctoral researcher ISRA-CERAAS

Institut Sénégalais de Recherche Agricole (ISRA/CERAAS)
02.2020 - 12.2023
  • ANATOMICS project: In collaboration with the Institut Sénégalais de Recherche Agricole (ISRA) and the University of Nottingham, the project aims to develop a new interdisciplinary approach to select adapted genotypes to the Sahel region, and to develop new learning approaches and tools for research. In addition, as part of the ANATOMICS project, I was involved in project management and planning for the security of research data.

Research Fellow

West African Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF)
05.2023 - 10.2023
  • MONICA and APSIM models were used in this study to compare the effect of drought on millet cropping and simulate yield variability across Africa.

Research internship, doctoral thesis

Institut de Recherche pour le Développement, IRD Bel Air Dakar/Sénégal
06.2016 - 10.2019
  • The aim of my thesis was to develop a tool for measuring pearl millet root architecture in the field, with the aim of identifying the most drought-tolerant genotypes, cropping practices and genetic selection strategies. This tool was used to study the effect of drought on root system development and the physiological mechanisms involved, as well as to study the effect of drought due to climate change and crop managements (sowing date, fertilization, etc.) on the plant's agro-ecosystem and yield.

Research internship

Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia
12.2015 - 03.2016
  • The aim of this internship was to understand the molecular mechanisms involved in malaria infection in pregnant women, and to identify the main proteins involved and their interaction.
